Global Consciousness Project70+ random number generators, one network, one field.

An international scientific collaboration that measures up to 70 random generators placed around the globe, searching for structured moments when the numbers become less random — within a trillion-to-one odds of chance.

How it works

Random number generators (RNGs) based on quantum tunneling produce completely unpredictable sequences of zeros and ones. But when a great event synchronizes the feelings of millions of people, the network of RNGs becomes subtly structured — the randomness deviates from expectation in ways consistent across the network.

The data is transmitted to a central archive which now contains more than 25 years of random data in parallel sequences of synchronized 200-bit trials generated every second.

Hypothesis

Coherent consciousness creates order in the world.

Large scale group consciousness has effects in the physical world. Knowing this, we can intentionally work toward a brighter, more conscious future. Subtle interactions link us with each other and the Earth.

Spikes recorded

The "eggs" (the RNG nodes) have been measuring data for over 25 years and have spiked on important world events — including 9/11 and International Peace Day. Expectation is the horizontal dashed line in the published charts; the formal result is the jagged red line, which plots the cumulative deviation of trial Z-scores from expectation.

Roger Nelson and the lineage

The Global Consciousness Project, created originally in the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab at Princeton University, has been directed by Roger Nelson. The Institute of Noetic Sciences provides a logistical home for the GCP.
